New stage canopy at Oasis
Yesterday I paid a brief visit to Oasis and was told that the “new owners” don’t take over until Monday. I did see that the stage canopy is now twice as large with improved weather protection.
Oasis: in with the old,
out with the new
Got an email today with news on Oasis Tiki Bar: the old owners have become the new owners — Oasis is again doing American music. The band Strictly Business will be playing there tomorrow (July 4th) from 9 PM to 1 AM.
More news on Oasis
I belong to several band mailing lists. One recent email read, ” . . . ownership at the Oasis has changed again. They didn’t bother to tell us. We called to confirm that everything was a go, but found out they are doing Mexican music on Friday and Saturday nights. And charging to get in. Big Hoolie’s is gone.
After 25 years, Big Hoolie’s is no more. Monday, May 19th was the last night for Hooligan’s Pub & Oyster Bar (9555 South Dixie Highway in Pinecrest). Owned by former candidate for Miami-Dade mayor Jay Love, Hooligan’s Pub had live music every Friday and blues jams on Thursdays. This venue will be missed. Its website is still up at https://www.hooliganspub.com.
Too dark for band shoot
On Friday, May 23rd, we went to JohnMartin’s to shoot the band “Rock N Roll Circus,” but as the stage lights were broken (confirmed by the band, soundman and our waitress), the stage was too dark for pictures. Still, we did enjoy the music and dinner. We’ll reschedule.
